As soon as I began to understand,
a delirious gasp woke me up.
…
The ancient millstone,
Motionless as a statue,
croaked,
Chewing crumbs of stone.
A woodpecker,
tireless,
telegraphed its laments
On the gnarled ropes
Of an old,
immense fir tree.
The dream just gone
glowed at times:
swirling,
fulminant,
screeching on the dark slate
as whispered words
By splintered rusted irons.
…
Golden slides,
Buried among memories,
maybe someday,
Will rise already awake,
Before my shadow.

A brief note on the Shadow archetype according to Jung
The Shadow, for Jung, is a fundamental aspect of the human psyche that consists of all the unconscious and repressed aspects of an individual’s personality.
Jung conceived the Shadow archetype as the dark side of our personality, representing the aspects of ourselves that we deny or repress. According to Jung, integrating the Shadow is crucial for personal growth and individuation. We can achieve a greater sense of wholeness and self-awareness by facing and accepting these hidden aspects of ourselves.
Failure to integrate the Shadow can have profound implications for an individual’s well-being. The Shadow may manifest in destructive ways, such as projections onto others or self-sabotaging behavior if unrecognized. By embracing our Shadow side, we can harness its energy for personal transformation and achieve a more balanced and authentic existence.
